The Livan Smurf, a mini electric car, has been announced in China, and its surprisingly affordable price is exciting kei-car enthusiasts.
The Smurf takes advantage of the growing popularity of kei-cars in Asia—very compact cars that typically have space only for the driver.
They are known for being highly affordable and fitting into any parking space, features that are especially appealing to young people living in densely populated Asian cities.

According to Electrek, the Smurf measures just 3,100 mm in length, 1,558 mm in width, and 1,610 mm in height. It is even smaller than the Fiat 500e, currently the smallest electric car available in the U.S.
CarNewsChina reports that it will come equipped with a 40 hp motor capable of reaching a top speed of 100 km/h.

This motor will be paired with a 17 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering up to 200 km of range according to CLTC standards.
Inside, it features a floating central touchscreen and a multifunction steering wheel. Interior details will be available in pink, light green, and gray.
Although Livan has not confirmed the release date for the Smurf, the price is expected to remain below ¥36,000, roughly equivalent to \$5,011.
